PRK Cinema Club: A Day of Movies, Community & Fun

On Saturday 8 August, we held our very own PRK Cinema Club for an afternoon of movies, treats, fundraising and community fun.

Made with a Little Help from Our Children

One of our favourite parts of Cinema Club was seeing the children involved in bringing the event to life.

In the lead-up to the day, the children helped create tickets and signage, painted and decorated gift bags, and contributed their own ideas and creativity to the event. Giving the children an opportunity to be part of the planning made the afternoon feel even more like their Cinema Club.

On the day, families settled in with their movie snacks and goodie bags before Sing hit the big screen. There was plenty of excitement throughout the afternoon, including our raffle and Guess the Number of Maltesers competition.

Fundraising with a Purpose

Cinema Club was also an important fundraiser for Pope Road Kindergarten, our major fundraising event of the year.

As a community-run, not-for-profit kindergarten, fundraising helps us continue to provide additional resources, experiences and opportunities for the children at PRK.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who purchased tickets, entered the raffle, had a guess at the Maltesers competition or supported the event in any other way. Every contribution makes a difference.

It Takes a Community

A huge thank you goes to our parent helpers and volunteers who gave their time to help with planning, setting up, preparing food and goodie bags, selling tickets, packing up and all the little jobs in between.

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to the local businesses and sponsors who generously supported the event through donations, prizes and contributions. We are incredibly fortunate to have such wonderful support from our wider community, including the following: Jellis Craig Whitehorse, Bar Nearby, Yippea, Madeline Xie Photography, Never Never Distilling Co, Richard Welch MP, Easy Signs, Same Day Printing, Bedhead Hats, Sweet Mickie, Hoyts Australia, Boob to Food, Lollipops Forest Hill, Kubota Australia, Carman’s Kitchen, Museum of Play and Art, Marca Suncare, The Round, Mitcham Social, Puffing Billy Railway, Core Plus Studio Mitcham, Amor Mexico, Supermarket Swap, KIC Wellness, The Essential Co, Mecca Beauty, Ready Steady Go Kids, Pots to Love and Melbourne Castle Hire.

And, of course, thank you to all of our PRK families who came along and embraced our first Cinema Club. Seeing the room filled with children, parents and friends enjoying an afternoon together was exactly what we had hoped for.

Our first PRK Cinema Club was a huge success, and a beautiful reminder of what can happen when our community comes together.
